Please select a forum:
- Biometry, security and privacy
The objective of the forum is to discuss themes such as:
- Is biometry the ultimate tool to enforce physical/digital security? Can it be fooled? Is it, like any other technology, the object of an endless escalation between law enforcement and violators?
- Is biometry a definite threat to privacy? Is there a necessary incompatibility between our image of freedom and the adoption of biometric techniques? Does the adoption/rejection of biometric techniques induce a choice of society? Or can biometry be seen as a neutral technology, where only the usage has to be monitored to prevent accidents?
- Are there ethical limitations to the usage of biometry (just like our society rejects the right to sell organs for example), which would make it unacceptable, in our society, to replace a pin code by a biometric check on e.g. bank cards?
